The Rainy Day Picnic That Refused to End
Something funny happened last week. We scheduled our summer picnic for Wednesday, but the rain and flood warning kept a lot of people home. So we put a few hot dogs in the air fryer, got out the chips and grandma’s macaroni salad, and had a nice small lunch with those who were here. Then with the leftovers we did it again on Thursday, and again on Friday. I don’t know why, but those lunch gatherings were a special moment for me and got me thinking about food here at Createscape.
I don’t just mean the events we put on. Gatherings for hot cooked breakfast, lunches ordered in, afternoon sweet treats, and nibbles at happy hour are great but those just scrape the surface of food moments around here. I’m talking about the random breakfasttime meetups in the kitchen, lunchtime conversations on the patio, or members headed out for Taco Tuesday together. These organic food moments are part of what makes the Createscape community so special to me.
I’m looking forward to more of those spontaneous kitchen hangouts—and a few planned ones, too. I’ll be whipping up a breakfast casserole for brunch next week, so members, pull up a chair!
